Blog Post #5: Reading as Thinking

When I am reading how I see is in color in my mind's eye.  I visualize in my mind's eye like a movie and it is like I am watching a movie in my mind.  The kinds of things that are easier to see in my mind include when I am reading about actual people or characters because I can think about them in my mind and create a movie in my mind.  I hear what I am reading in my mind just like I hear dialogue in real life or in a movie.  I picture characters like real people in movies and I think about how the characters sound when they talk and what they look like.  When I am reading I respond to confusion by reading over what I did not understand and by reading it slowly.     I experience a variety of feelings when I am reading depending on what I am reading.  I experience positive and negative feelings, just like I do in the real world.  During reading I am able to connect ideas to previous texts that I have read and compare the b...

Blog Post #4: Questions to Explore Reading Lives

Blog Post #3: Slice of Life Sunny Day

As I walked outside today I really noticed how the sun was shining and what a beautiful day it was!  The past few days have been cold for Southeast Texas, and today it was a great day with the sun shining and the 60 degree weather.  I think it is important for us to take time out of our day and appreciate the little things in life like the beautiful weather, our family, and our friends.  If someone chooses to participate in the Slice of Life Challenge and they cannot think of something to write about for that day, they can always write about how the weather is.     I have been busy with teaching and my Master's classes, so today I decided to take time and appreciate the beautiful weather outside today.  Even if it was just a slice of my life, I believe it is still important.  Sometimes the small moments are important to recognize.
